Farmhouse STAIRcase
brittany, france
This project took the team over to France, with a commission to replace an old staircase in a converted farmhouse in Brittany. The existing staircase was dangerously steep and in a state of disrepair and the new spiral design was the perfect solution to fit neatly between a window and chimney breast.
The logistics for a successful installation were paramount – the design had to factor in the access via the original farm door and so the balustrade was detachable and the entire structure was effectively corkscrewed through the door, before being manoeuvred into place internally.
Featuring painted steel and oak, the staircase offers a light and elegant addition to the old house.
